The overall purpose of the e-Learning unit is to manage and coordinate the ICT professional development of FSDoE employees at head office, districts and schools as well as the implementation and monitoring of ICT integration at schools.
The Innovation in Education Open Day is an annual event where the E-Learning unit showcases innovative use of technology in teaching and learning, promotes awareness of new technology in the education sector and shares best practice in ICT integration. This year we are sharing the stage with our UFS partners as they re-Launch the Internet Broadcast Project (IBP).

IBP Re-Launch
"Taking LEARNING to where it matters."
The Internet Broadcast Project (IBP) was launched in 2011 with the vision of taking quality education to all learners across the Free State province, regardless of their socio-economic background. Each weekday, educational material is broadcasted over five hours. To date, over 5 000 lessons have been recorded and catalogued.
Over the past seven years, the project expanded to include more subjects across more grades.
In total, 83 identified schools log in to receive live broadcasted lessons. These lessons are also available offline to teachers and learners in the Free State.
Along with the IBP Re-Launch we will announce 18 additional schools who have been selected to benefit from the live broadcasts. We will also share with all the teachers present the methods that will be used for content distribution, thereby enabling offline access for both learners and educators.
The Free State Department of Education wants to thank the following stakeholders for their involvement and generous contribution toward the success of the provincial initiative. Together we can enhance the teaching and learning environment by integrating technology in Education.
